Hashdex will liquidate its DEFI spot Bitcoin ETF following weak investor demand and limited trading activity. The fund is scheduled to cease trading on NYSE Arca on August 17, 2026, after which Hashdex will sell its approximately 225 Bitcoin holdings and distribute the proceeds to shareholders in cash. Investors are expected to receive liquidation payments around August 28. Originally launched as a Bitcoin futures ETF in 2022 before converting to a spot Bitcoin strategy, DEFI struggled to attract assets in a market dominated by much larger competitors, with assets peaking at roughly $17.5 million and ending July with about $14.7 million under management.
