South Korean Issuers Expand Copper Exposure With New ETNs

Meritz Securities and Mirae Asset Securities introduced copper-linked exchange-traded notes on Korea Exchange on October 23, with the launches reported on October 26. The products track Solactive copper indices and offer different exposure profiles, including unleveraged, twice-leveraged and twice-inverse strategies. The listings expand access to copper futures as investor interest grows around electrification, power infrastructure and AI-related industrial demand. Leveraged and inverse products introduce additional risks because their performance can diverge from longer-term movements in the underlying commodity. Importantly, these products are ETNs rather than ETFs, meaning investors also face credit exposure to the issuing financial institutions.
