GMO Launches First ETF Share Class With Over $200 Million in Assets

GMO has launched the GMO International Equity ETF (GMIE), becoming one of the first asset managers to offer ETF and mutual fund share classes of the same actively managed portfolio. GMIE debuts with over $200 million in assets following a strategic partner's conversion from the mutual fund share class. The ETF provides exposure to GMO's International Equity Fund, established in 1987, which managed $1.4 billion as of September 30, 2026. The strategy targets developed-market equities outside the U.S., combining systematic stock selection with value, quality, and multi-factor analysis. GMIE shares the same underlying portfolio as the mutual fund, allowing investors to access the strategy through an exchange-traded structure without changing its investment approach. GMO has registered ETF share classes for several additional funds, with further launches possible pending board approval.
