Calamos Launches Active Hedged Equity ETF Focused on Smoother Returns

Calamos has launched the Calamos Active Hedged Equity ETF (CHDG), an actively managed strategy designed to deliver equity market participation with lower volatility than broad stock markets. The ETF uses a flexible options-based risk management approach, primarily through FLEX options on the SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM), allowing portfolio managers to adjust hedges as market conditions change rather than relying on a fixed systematic structure. CHDG brings to the ETF market a strategy similar to Calamos’ long-running hedged equity mutual fund, leveraging the firm's nearly 50 years of options expertise to help investors manage downside risk while preserving upside potential in a tax-efficient ETF wrapper.
