The European Investor Exchange (EIX), operated jointly by Scalable Capital and the Hanover Stock Exchange, has extended equity and ETF trading to 6:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. CET, offering a 17-hour daily window. Scalable describes the opening time as Europe’s earliest market start, targeting retail investors seeking access before and after conventional exchange hours. According to the company, one in ten EIX trades already took place before 9:00 a.m. Scalable PRIME+ customers can trade on EIX without execution fees on orders of at least €250. The move adds to competition among venues for retail equity and ETF orders, following Deutsche Börse’s expansion to an 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. CET trading window in late 2025. For ETF investors, the change provides more flexibility over when to place trades, although longer trading hours do not necessarily mean deeper liquidity or tighter spreads.
