SameSide Capital has filed for the SameSide Tactical Thematic ETF, an actively managed fund combining thematic stock selection with defensive shifts into gold-linked ETFs or Treasury investments. Its quantitative process would rank themes using flows and assets in associated thematic ETFs, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics and defense. The portfolio would have ten sleeves, rebalanced monthly to equal weight, each holding either ten top-ranked stocks within a qualifying theme or a defensive allocation. Stocks would be selected from thematic ETF holdings using trend, momentum, relative strength and volume signals. Themes with weakening trends would move into the defensive reserve, which could reach 100% of assets. The reserve would hold gold-linked ETFs when gold’s trend is positive and Treasury investments otherwise. SameSide Capital would serve as sub-adviser, with Exchange Traded Concepts as adviser.
