The New York Stock Exchange has introduced extended trading hours for options listed on NYSE American, effective October 19, 2026. The new sessions run from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. ET and from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET, allowing investors to trade selected ETF and equity options outside regular market hours. Eligible ETFs include the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), alongside major technology stocks such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon and Oracle. The initiative aims to provide greater flexibility for portfolio management and risk hedging as demand for extended-hours trading grows. The move forms part of NYSE's broader efforts to expand trading access beyond traditional market hours.
