Mackenzie Launches Four ETFs Across Gold Overlay and Multi-Factor Equities

Mackenzie Investments has launched four ETFs on the Toronto Stock Exchange, combining a global equity and gold strategy with three systematic multi-factor funds under its new Modus brand. The Mackenzie Global Equity & Gold Overlay ETF (MGEG) charges a 1.15% management fee and combines an actively managed global equity portfolio with a strategic 50% notional allocation to gold futures. Using futures allows the strategy to retain full equity exposure while adding gold as a separate diversification sleeve. The Mackenzie Modus Global Equity ETF (MMGL), with a 0.55% management fee, invests primarily in global mid- and large-cap stocks. The Mackenzie Modus International Equity ETF (MMEA), also charging 0.55%, focuses on mid- and large-cap companies across developed markets outside the U.S. and Canada. The Mackenzie Modus Global Small-Mid Cap Equity ETF (MMSD) charges 0.60% and targets global small- and mid-cap stocks. All three Modus ETFs use a rules-based process targeting four factors. value, momentum, quality and low volatility. Mackenzie also seeks to reduce unintended exposure to factors such as size, liquidity, country and sector biases, with the portfolios managed systematically rather than through discretionary stock selection.
