BlackRock's iShares has launched the iShares Global Defence & Security Active UCITS ETF, expanding its actively managed thematic lineup amid rising global defense spending. The Ireland-domiciled fund launched on October 22, 2026, and began trading on October 28 under DSCC on Xetra and DSEC on Euronext Amsterdam and the London Stock Exchange. The ETF invests at least 70% of its assets in companies involved in defense equipment, military technologies, national security, logistics, defense supply chains and space capabilities. Portfolio managers use fundamental, valuation and technical analysis to identify companies positioned to benefit from increased security spending, without tracking an index. Classified as SFDR Article 8, the fund excludes controversial weapons, tobacco producers and certain ESG violators. It carries a 0.73% total expense ratio and offers active exposure to the evolving global defense and security industry.
