Harbor Capital Files for Managed Futures ETF Using Trend and Non-Trend Strategies

Harbor Capital Advisors has filed for the Harbor Managed Futures ETF (HCTA), an actively managed fund seeking returns through long and short futures positions across commodity, bond, and short-term interest rate markets globally. Subadvised by Altis Partners (Jersey) Limited, the ETF will employ quantitative models combining trend-following signals with non-trend strategies, using market data and fundamental inputs to determine positioning across multiple time horizons. Unlike traditional trend-following funds, HCTA will not rely exclusively on price momentum and will maintain no fixed sector allocations. The fund will primarily hold U.S. Treasury bills and other high-quality short-term instruments as collateral while using futures to gain market exposure. It may also allocate up to 25% of its assets to a Cayman Islands subsidiary for commodity futures exposure. The strategy involves leverage and is classified as non-diversified.
