Schwab Debuts USD-Hedged International Investment-Grade Bond ETF (SCIN)

Schwab Asset Management has launched the Schwab International Bond ETF (SCIN), offering exposure to investment-grade bonds across more than 40 developed and emerging markets. Listed on NYSE, the fund carries an expense ratio of 0.06%, among the lowest in its category. SCIN tracks the ICE Global Broad Market Excluding-USD RIC Capped Free-Float Index (USD Hedged), covering sovereign, quasi-government, corporate and securitized debt denominated in currencies other than the U.S. dollar. The ETF uses currency forwards and futures to hedge foreign exchange exposure back to the dollar, aiming to reduce currency risk. Its largest country exposures are expected to include France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and Italy. The launch expands Schwab's fixed income ETF lineup with a low-cost option for international bond diversification.
