Global X has launched the Global X Small Modular Reactor ETF (SMRZ), an actively managed fund targeting approximately 15 companies involved in designing, developing, building and fueling small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs). The ETF invests across developed and select emerging markets, focusing on companies generating at least 50% of revenue from SMR-related activities or qualifying as development-stage businesses. Its largest holdings include NuScale Power, X-Energy, Oklo, Nano Nuclear Energy and Terrestrial Energy. The launch comes amid growing demand for reliable electricity from AI data centers and increased government support for nuclear energy. According to the International Energy Agency, global SMR investment could exceed $25 billion annually by 2030, with more than 1,000 reactors potentially deployed by 2050 under a supportive policy scenario. SMRZ carries a gross expense ratio of 0.75%.
