Daniel Petre Backs AI-Driven ETF Manager Savana at A$20 Million Valuation

Australian technology investor and Airtree Ventures co-founder Daniel Petre has invested in Savana Active ETFs, valuing the Sydney-based investment manager at A$20 million. Founded by Stephen Duchesne and John Atkinson, Savana uses machine intelligence and proprietary valuation models to analyse approximately 60,000 listed companies daily. Its Savana US Small Caps Active ETF (SVNP), listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, targets undervalued U.S. small- and mid-cap stocks through systematic stock selection. The fund reported annualised returns of 11.96% after fees since inception as of September 30, 2026, although its current strategy began in November 2024. Despite its reported performance, SVNP remains relatively small, with A$6.71 million in assets at the end of September. The investment could support Savana's expansion as it seeks to scale its quantitative ETF business in Australia's competitive active ETF market.
